This art kit includes 10 art engagement activities and explores the theme of storytelling in art. Along with your carefully selected and prepped art supplies you will receive acces to video and pdf instructional materials to support the learning and art making. Work at your own pace, in your own space. This Virtual Art Camp Kit is meant to give the art making experience of a multiday art camp, but will not be held over zoom or in person. But we still want to see what you're doing and we'd love to hear from you! Send us photos of your art adventure if you would like them added to our Online Gallery!
How do artists share their stories? What stories would you like to share?
Centred on the theme of storytelling, the activities in the kit have been carefully designed to build upon each other, so young artists can practice different skills and learn new art processes while building on their experiences. Using art participants will explore key elements of storytelling: setting, character, and the action or plot of the story.
In addition to exploring elements of storytelling this art kit will introduce young artists to concepts in art including landscape painting, observational drawing, colour theory and composition. Participants will engage in drawing games, painting with watercolour, collagraph printmaking, basic stop-motion animation and sculpting with model magic.
*Best for ages 6-12, if there are younger siblings/family members/friends that want to particpate as well they may just need a little additional assistance from adult helper or older sibling.
